Lesson 12 - Lessons You Want Your Child To Learn

Sometimes we are in such a hurry to get a situation under control that we forget the long-term lessons we want our children to learn. It is important to parent with this end in mind.

Below are lessons you want your children to learn.

  • Repair mistakes rather than excusing them, covering them up, lying, or blaming others.
  • Make and keep agreements, which shows that others can count on you.”
  • Communicate feelings effectively – anger, sadness, hurt, love, excitement, etc.
  • Ask for what they want instead of whining, manipulating, threatening, or having temper tantrums.
  • Be motivated to succeed by learning the value of giving their personal best.
  • Learn from failure and move on by continuing to take risks.
  • Manage conflict without hurting others or giving in by creating win-win situations.
  • Enjoy and encourage other people’s success.
  • Enjoy being a team player.
  • Handle problems as they occur rather than holding grudges so that relationships can be fun and loving.
  • Develop and listen to their inner guidance system.
